The role

The Asset Systems Officer captures all contributed assets, capital assets and associated information for which the City Assets branch is responsible for as an asset owner/custodian. The position is also responsible for in-house asset/condition data collection, input and outcomes relating to City Assets' Asset Management Systems.

You will take responsibility for:

Processing work-in-progress and contributed projects in accordance with the City's asset capture policy and procedures.
Contributing to continuous improvement for asset systems and data/information management services.
Updating and maintaining information within the City's corporate asset systems.
Complying with the corporate asset data standard, the spatial data standard and asset data management processes and controls.
Assisting in the identification of asset data integrity issues and undertaking asset data improvements.
Providing support and guidance for project managers delivering new infrastructure and data/information.
Investigating, recording and providing timely responses to concerns regarding asset systems and data/information management services as directed. Including letters, Councillor requests, customer requests and phone calls.
Field capturing, creating, updating and disposing of asset data in the asset register/s.
Contributing to an atmosphere of responsible safety, quality and environmental performance in accordance with organisation, directorate and branch objectives and standard operating procedures.

Requirements for the role:

Relevant tertiary (or equivalent) qualification and/or significant knowledge of and experience in asset data management and spatial information systems.
Well-developed interpersonal, written and communication skills in the areas of consultation, negotiation, and assertiveness with an ability to transfer knowledge to other capable team members.
Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to research issues, interpret and analyse information, determine an appropriate course of action and provide sound advice, options or recommendations.
Proven ability to work within an asset data team environment with demonstrable experience in managing multiple tasks, that may have impact beyond the work area; with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise work and resources to reach agreed and successful conclusions.

About City Assets branch

Infrastructure Asset Custodian for transport, drainage and foreshore facilities.
Custodians of over $9 billion worth of assets including, but not limited to approximately, 3200 kilometres of road, 2500 kilometres of drainage pipe, 100 boat ramps, 20 jetties, 3 dams, 130 lakes, 400 kilometres of constructed canals and 52 kilometres of beaches.
Coordinates and delivers strategic and tactical asset management planning, asset information and data management and contributed asset review and acceptance functions for the Directorate.
