About the role

The Senior Project Manager - Transport (GCLR4) is responsible for the management of the transport related issues for the development of Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 4 (GCLR4) business case. The position will be available to June 2021 with extension pending budget approval to June 2022.

The duties will include:

Management of the Local Area Transport Studies (LATS) for Tugun and Coolangatta
Liaison and integration between the LATS (Palm Beach) and the broader transport planning for the transport corridor (Burleigh Heads to Coolangatta)
Management of the development of the Strategic Assessment of Service Requirements) as part of the Project Assurance Framework process
High level stakeholder management for GCLR 4 (including TMR).
Development of technical brief for the engineering assessment as part of the Options Analysis

You will take responsibility for:

Management of engineering consultancies involved in the technical assessment of the engineering options for GCLR4
Project Managing the component transport parts of the SASR and Options Analysis for GCLR4
Management of the budget for the transport engineering components of the SASR and Options Analysis for the development of GCLR4
Manage the stakeholder relationships within the City of Gold Coast and Transport and Main Roads

Requirements for the role:

You have previously demonstrated experience in managing technical consultants
You have experience in large project development through the State's Project Assurance Framework (including SASR, Options Analysis and Detailed Business Case development)
You have a strong ability to apply analytical and conceptual skills to develop lateral solutions and make logical decisions and judgements.
You're able to easily consult and negotiate with internal and external colleagues / clients to ensure achievements, utilising your exceptional interpersonal skills.
Your effective written and oral communication skills allow you to structure, engage and present information clearly.

About You

You hold a bachelor degree of engineering or have demonstrated equivalent knowledge
You have well developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with experience in drafting correspondence and briefing senior management on project matters within a government environment
You have experience in project managing strategic land use planning studies
You have well-developed consultation, engagement and negotiation skills with the ability to influence
You are a “can do” person who thrives on solving problems in a complex, fast-moving environment.

About Transport and Traffic Branch

The Transport and Traffic Branch provides planning and advice for sustainable transport outcomes for the city including integrated transport planning, infrastructure analysis, public transport, active transport and the active travel program as well as traffic management functions.
Works under the strategic intent of the City of Gold Coast's Corporate Plan, Gold Coast 2020, and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031.
Responsible for ensuring the city has a safe and efficient transport system which is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.
