Are you looking for a sea change? Come to Mackay - the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and be part of our Occupational Therapy team who provide varied supports to participants involved with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ).

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our growing team in Mackay. As an OT with OneLife NQ, you will be working with our NDIS or NIISQ clients to learn how they wish to live their lives and support them to do this as independently as possible.

This may involve assessing and making recommendations to adapt their home environment to make it more accessible (e.g major bathroom or kitchen adaptations) or it may involve smaller changes such as grab rails and recommendations for specialist equipment (e.g wheelchairs, bedding, hoists, slings). Additionally, you may be involved in doing direct therapy and rehabilitation with your clients.

Your role will also include the provisions of training to the client, their family and their support team in the proper use and maintenance of this equipment and also supporting them to follow home programs as required.

For the successful candidate, we maybe able to assist with a short term/subsidised accommodation option until Christmas if required in our self-contained unit. This is a private upstairs unit at our specialist respite house, Myrtle’s Place.

Options for both full time and part time roles available with negotiated hours to suit that work life balance.

Mandatory Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or above in Occupational Therapy
Full Registration with AHRPA
Positive Working with Children (blue card) and Working with people with a disability (yellow card) criminal history checks
1st aid and CPR certificates

Desirable

Knowledge and/or experience in working with clients with a spinal cord injury very advantageous.
Knowledge and/or experience in scripting specialised equipment
The ability to work independently and manage your own caseload
Knowledge in working within the NDIS system and frameworks
