Position Summary:
A vacancy exists in the Haematology unit for a highly motivated Fellow with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant will have completed joint training in Laboratory and Clinical Haematology with the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia and Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent. Applicants who are in their last year of training may apply if they have demonstrated an interest in this area by experience or publication. The applicant must have an interest in R & D in molecular pathology and intend to pursue a career in this area of Haematology.

They will also be actively involved in ongoing clinical practice improvement activities relevant to the areas of molecular medicine.

Selection Criteria

1. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent's Health Australia
2.MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with AHPRA
3.Attainment of FRCPA and FRACP or current joint advanced trainee in Haematology; registration with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
4. Participate in performing massive parallel sequencing (NGS) assays for haematological related disorders.
5 Participate in performing confirmatory or downstream molecular and biological assays such as PCR, cell culture and flow cytometry.
6. Contribute in all research activities of the Unit including presenting and writing of projects and publications; Preparation of grants and other duties per instruction of the Director.
7.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in a computerised environment or a preparedness to learn especially in bioinformatics relevant to the R&D projects; Track record in laboratory research and publications are highly desirable.
8.Demonstrated commitment to research, quality improvement, patient safety risk management; demonstrated adherence to infection control requirements.
