The Opportunity.

We are looking for a pool of Technical Officers to join our passionate and committed Livestock Operations team, working with new technology to develop the sheep industry and livestock efficiency. You can contribute to the success of the sheep industry by developing and impacting on long term growth. This exciting opportunity will be based in regional WA in Katanning, which will provide support to the Livestock industry mainly focusing on Sheep research. You will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of research projects with experience in working with animals and various date management systems.

The Ideal Candidate.

The ideal candidate would be passionate about the livestock industry, meticulous with record management, as well as enjoys working in regional Western Australia - Katanning. The ideal candidate will also have:

Ability to suggest practical solutions when problems arise.

Effective communication skills in writing and interpersonal skills.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract and this is required as part of your application.

Subject to appointment, successful applicants will be required to:

provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy before commencing employment;
obtain and provide a current National Police Certificate (police clearance) before commencing employment;
complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement.
a current and valid WA C class (car) driver's license or equivalent is required.

Undertaking field work away from the base location for periods up to a working week may be required.

Working outside normal hours to complete seasonal tasks may be required.

Living in regional and semi-remote community may be required.

The pool will be valid for a period of twelve (12) months following finalisation of the process and may be used to fill permanent and fixed term, full time and part time opportunities that may arise in this period. Please note, being appointed to the pool does not guarantee you placement to a position.
