Work with a leading Data Engineering & Governance team

We have a new permanent opportunity available for a data enthusiast to join this data engineering team as a Data Engineer.

The role offers a lot of variety in terms of the day to day focus whereby you’ll be tasked with supporting the Data Governance teams to contribute towards the metadata strategies and enhance data governance across the organisation, involving ETL activities, data modelling, scripting (Python) along with some software development tasks across React.js and JavaScript.

Technically, this is a challenging role as it comprises both data governance and meta data disciplines along with a software development approach, so this role is ideally suited to a Software Engineer / Developer who has a strong background working in data disciplines.

Key focus of the role:

Identifying new sources of metadata and integrating them into the single strategic metadata management repository.
Develop metadata solutions that help safe guard the data assets whilst making them open and accessible to those with the appropriate access privileges.
Utilise DevOps skills to develop, schedule and deploy metadata scanners and connectors to extract, load and integrate technical and business metadata.
Refine the Metadata Management Strategy and co-own the associated delivery roadmap.
Develop easy to use business metadata templates and associated import processes and off up suggestions to integrate those processes into BAU and huddles.
Adopt a continuous improvement approach with uplifting current state tools and technologies, implementing advanced Business Glossaries and automating key governance processes with metadata.
Develop workflows for business metadata collection such as for data stewardship functions as well as for escalation and exception management.
Develop and enhance compelling User Interfaces in React.js / JavaScript.

Skills & experience that will propel your success in the role:

A proven background working across Metadata modeling with data modelling experience.
SQL database administration with ETL development experience.
Experience working with PostgreSQL will be an added advantage for this role.
Linux and Windows administration experience.
Strong Development and scripting skills in Python.
Experience building UI interfaces across Front-End development using React, JavaScript.
Enthusiastic about working with data and enhancing data governance.
Collaborative communication skills to be able to engage with other technical teams and business stakeholders.
