Mentally Healthy WA Act-Belong-Commit Campaign

Based at Curtin University, Mentally Healthy WA operates the well-established Act-Belong-Commit mental health promotion campaign, a unique, evidence based program applicable to the whole community.

Our vision is to work toward a society that values mental health, and where everyone has the opportunity to be mentally healthy by crafting supportive environments that strengthen individual and community resilience.

We raise awareness and encourage participation in activities promoting good mental health, strengthen individual resilience, reduce stigma associated with mental illness, and build more mentally healthy communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow, with a background in Public Health Research in the area of mental health, to join the team and conduct nationally competitive research evaluating Mentally Healthy WAs programs.

In this role you will

Work with the Director to develop a coherent program of research in mental health.

Publish research of a high standard in high quality refereed journals.

Prioritise evaluation of Mentally Healthy WA programs.

Contribute to or lead applications for funding.

Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops and conferences.

Provide effective supervision of research honours, research masters, and research doctoral students.

We are looking for someone with

A PhD in Public Health, Health Sciences or related area. Background and experience in Mental Health Research.

Experience in quantitative research and evaluation, preferably evaluation of outcomes.

Evidence of a record of research outputs in high quality refereed journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.

Evidence of quality and impact of research outputs/creative works including journal ranking, citation indices, and patents awarded, reputation and standing of publishing house or other outlets, independent review from distinguished scholars or critics.

High-level communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students and staff.

Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

Proven ability to supervise HDR students (desirable).

A history of successful competitive grant applications (desirable).

Experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level (desirable).
