Position Profile: We are seeking Senior Medical Practitioners to work as part of multidisciplinary teams to provide a high standard of medical care. We are particularly looking for procedural practitioners with skills in Obstetrics and/or Anaesthetics and Emergency Medicine. These positions will provide emergency, procedural and inpatient services at Narrogin and other Wheatbelt Hospitals as required.

Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Our core business is the provision of quality, accessible health services to country WA residents and visitors.

Regional Profile: The Wheatbelt Health Region lies immediately to the east of Perth and extends north to the coast, east to the western boundary of the Goldfields and south to the northern boundary of the Great Southern Region. The region has 44 local government areas, covers an area of approximately 157,000 square kilometres and has a population of 77,000 people.

The Wheatbelt Health Services consist of three (3) integrated district hospitals (Narrogin, Northam and Merredin), 19 small hospitals, two (2) primary health care demonstration sites (Pingelly and Cunderdin) and a 24 hour health centre at Jurien Bay. There are also five (5) small health centres providing local community services.

Other Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to undertake criminal records screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment process. Referees may also be asked to comment on an applicant's integrity and past demonstration of ethical behaviour.
