About the role

Working in Maitland City Councils Infrastructure and Works group, the Works Engineer will provide

planning and management services relating to Councils construction, maintenance and recreation works. As the Works Engineer you will manage and deliver projects within Councils capital works and maintenance programs in accordance with Councils Delivery Program. You will work in a project management capacity to organise, schedule and supervise works and will provide engineering expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders.

Acting in a leadership capacity the Works Engineer will be responsible for overseeing staff, including two other Engineers and civil works crews from time to time, and will undertake regular field inspections, monitor the progress of works and ensure compliance with WHS. With a high commitment to safety the Works Engineer is responsible for driving a culture of accountability, and for fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess a Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or related field and will have eligibility for Civil Engineering registration with Professional Engineers Australia or the Institute of Engineers Australia, or equivalent. You will have experience working in a similar role and will possess contemporary industry knowledge and experience in supervision of contracts and control of labour relating to Civil construction, maintenance and recreation works.

You will have a strong safety focus and a demonstrated ability to supervise, coach and support staff in the execution of their daily tasks. Further to this, you will have excellent communication and negotiation skills and a proven ability to produce business focussed reports and undertake tender processes.

Benefits

This is a permanent full-time role with a base salary ranging $102,593 up to $113,878 per year based on demonstrated competencies + civil liability allowance (3.5%) + private leaseback vehicle + 9.5% p.a. super.
