About us

The City of Kingston is south-east of Melbourne and is approximately 20km from Melbourne's CBD. We employ over 1,450 people in a diverse range of roles including engineering, customer service, administration, finance, family, youth and children's services, sport and recreation, health, parks and gardens, planning, arts and management.

The City of Kingston has three Family and Childrens Centres that provide high quality Childcare, Kindergarten programs and onsite Maternal and Child Health nurse services. Our centres are modern, vibrant and welcoming.

The role

We currently have part time and full time Diploma Qualified Senior Educator opportunities to join the Early Years team. Reporting to the Education and Care Program Leader, your role is to:

* Support the group and individual childs learning by providing play-based experiences.
* Take regular observations, plan, implement experience and evaluate to ensure children continue to be given opportunities to expand their curiosity and interests.
* Communicate effectively and creatively with families on a regular basis.
* Commitment to be an intentional Senior Educator who seeks to develop strategies and learning opportunities with children.

The follow Diploma Qualified positions are available in our Education and Care Programs:

* Position number 2839, Permanent Part Time, Wednesday only 8 hours per week, based at Parkdale Family and Children Centre
* Position number 2863, Temporary Full time until 1st May 2021, based at Parkdale Family and Children Centre
* Position number 3014, Temporary Part time until 1st July 2021, based at Carrum Family and Children Centre
* Position number 2815, Casual Senior Educators based across our 3 Family and Childrens Centres - Carrum, Edithvale and Parkdale

Please note: these roles may relocate to any one of Councils Family and Childrens Centres (Carrum, Parkdale or Edithvale) with notice, in line with our Enterprise Agreement conditions.

About you

The ideal candidate will:

* Demonstrated ability and experience working with and supervising children.
* Have a strong commitment to working in a team environment.
* Understand the expectations of the Victorian and National Curriculum Frameworks, National Quality Standards and the current Regulations.
* Build positive and respectful relationships with children and their families.
* Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
* Minimum Diploma qualification (Diploma in Childrens Services) in accordance with the relevant legislation associated with Early Years Care and Education
* Current Working with Children's Check
* Level 2 First Aid Certificate including: Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management and CPR Certificate
