The role

Australian owned engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior (Lead) Hydrologist to work in their Transport team.

Under-stretched in your current role? Perhaps you’re doing too much modelling and want to broaden your responsibilities.

Overlooked for promotion? This role allows you to step up into the limelight but with plenty of guidance from peers in other disciplines.

Day to day
The purpose of the role is to deliver hydrology advice to clients. We expect you’ll have done that before in your current role.

Here, you’ll be working alongside other discipline experts and you’ll be learning from your peers in other teams as you go. You’ll diversify your technical and non-technical skill set organically whilst being the ‘go-to’ for all things Stormwater.

The company
The Melbourne office hosts 80 staff who work across transport and the built environment. Transport has been their bread-winning team for the last 6 years. They have grown from a team of 5 to 50 within this time.

The group is led by one of Victoria’s most recognised transport professionals, a highly passionate and very warm business development guru and mentor.

What’s involved?
We guess you’ll know what’s involved as a senior hydrologist working in a consultancy. Engaging clients, contextualising problems, some modelling, finding engineering solutions and advising from there. In essence, you’ll support the infrastructure team as the Subject Matter Expert for Hydrology.

You will be a highly visible presence within the business and with clients across the wider industry. As the company has 700 staff globally, there’s also other hydrologists across Australia and beyond and you’ll be able to learn from them and find support as and when you need.

We hope the Hydrology team will grow. As the Lead Water Engineer, you’ll be able to influence team shape and size and who you work alongside.

About you
First and foremost, you’re technically ept. You know your primary function is to solve problems. You’ll also be a great team-player, willing to contribute ideas to other project stakeholders, advise, guide and present to clients. Finally, you’re a doer as well as a leader – you won’t be ashamed to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

The role will suit an engineer who has 10 – 20 years’ experience in hydrology. You’ll be very comfortable using TuFlow and have worked on Victorian transport projects in your current / last role.
