About The Program

The Family Preservation Program delivers targeted voluntary intervention services to children and young people aged 0-17 where concerns of risk of significant harm have been raised.

The primary outcome of the Family Preservation Program is to keep children and young people within their safe and stable family by improving family functioning and reducing risk and safety concerns so they can have a healthy development.

The voluntary programs focus is on preventing vulnerable children from entering the child protection system by improving children and young people's wellbeing.

About The Role

You will provide leadership and management to a team of Practitioners by working in partnership with them using a coaching approach that is focussed on clear, achievable goals ensuring that crucial conversations happen to address concerns and systemic patterns of behaviour.

Engage in strategic planning and lead innovation and quality improvement in partnership with the Family Preservation Operational Teams in line with SDN's mission, vision, values and strategic goals and ensure the embedding of Thriving Families, SDN's Family Centres Framework and SafeCare.

Through the sharing of Interdisciplinary Innovation and learning with the Family Preservation and Support Services teams, you will enhance the reputation for SDN within the sector.

This is a full time permanent position based at our Caringbah or Canterbury office with travel within Sydney Metro required.

About You

To succeed in this role you will need:

University qualification in social work or equivalent
Experience of working within a community services and/or child and family social work environment at an operational management level
Demonstrated ability to coach others in the provision of effective child and family centres practice
Demonstrated commitment to child focused practice, well developed understanding of Child Protection practices, a sound understanding of legislation and an ability to effectively assess, prioritise and manage risks to child wellbeing
Well-developed leadership skills and experience leading a positive culture in teams who work with vulnerable and complex children and families in a challenging and changing environment
Supportive, tactful and empathetic nature with the ability to make clear judgements that promotes the rights, interests and wellbeing of children
Demonstrated experience in planning, monitoring and reporting on relevant outputs and outcomes as well as strategic planning
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a range of key stakeholders
Knowledge and experience in managing operational budgets
NSW Drivers Licence
Working with Children's Check (WWCC) and National Police Check
