Conjoint Dental Officer Level 3, Temporary Full Time.

We are seeking a suitably experienced Dental Officers Level 3 to join our large Oral Health team on the Central Coast of NSW.

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated dentist with a high level of knowledge, experience, and clinical competency across the scope of general dentistry in a complex clinical setting, this is an opportunity for you.

This is a full time position with both clinical and academic load, the latter involving supervision of undergraduate oral health therapy and dentistry students in pre-clinical and outpatient clinics at tertiary institution and the Central Coast Local Health District dental clinics.

Applicants for the Level 3 conjoint position must demonstrate having highly advanced clinical skills and the ability to exercise independent professional judgment. They must demonstrate both capacity and past experience in providing clinical education and supervision for undergraduate dental students on clinical placement, as well as training and mentoring of the multidisciplinary of the District oral health team. The successful applicant must demonstrate the capacity to successfully integrate with university academic and clinical staff, as well as the District’s Oral Health team. Previous research experience is desirable but not essential.

This position qualifies for the Dental Officer Rural Incentive Scheme Allowance (up to $20k p.a.) in addition to Award Salary.

Be registered and / or be able to be registered with the Dental Board of Australia as a dentist and with extensive clinical experience as a dentist in Australia or in a mutually recognised jurisdiction (UK, NZ and Éire).
Proven highly advanced clinical skills and clinical reasoning abilities in managing most of the difficult clinical situations, complex medical histories, children and those with physical and mental disabilitiesand have a proven record for carrying out a broad range of advanced and complex dental procedures, as well as, ideally, be experienced in performing procedures under oral sedation, relative analgesia and general anaesthesia.
Demonstrated experience in tertiary level teaching, mentoring, coaching, and supporting oral health students in under- and post-graduate programs in both clinical and academic capacity.
Demonstrated understanding of Oral Health Therapy tertiary teaching methodology and the scope of practice of Oral Health Therapists within the guidelines of new graduate attributes.
Demonstrated experience in undertaking and supervising clinical and/or epidemiological research projects, and a demonstrated ability for identifying opportunities for improvement in models of care delivery as well as clinical practices.
Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary clinical team as well possess experience in managing diverse range of concurrent activities.
Demonstrated highly developed verbal and computer skills commensurate with University of Newcastle and CCLHD requirements and expectations for this role.
Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute to this goal.
