Station Hands For 2020 Mustering Season - Remote SA Cattle Station.

Our clients own and operate a large cattle station located in the middle of the Western River’s catchment of the Lake Eyre basin on the Neale’s River in remote Northern South Australia. Located 200 kilometres from Coober Pedy and 25 kilometres from Oodnadatta, this property covers some 5,000 square kilometres and is home to a herd of 3,000 well-bred cattle. All cattle are quite and handled using low stress methods.

We are searching for three people to join this family operation who can start in early September and commit up until late December to help with the mustering and general station duties. Suit passionate young people who have an interest in agriculture and cattle breeding. Opportunity for fulltime position starting next year for the right people.

Positions will include

Mustering cattle on two-wheel motorbikes, with aerial support and some horse work.
Machinery operation, repairs, and maintenance.
A range of other station tasks including fencing and water checks

The successful applicants will

Be energetic, polite, with an adventurous personality.
Enjoy working outdoors and with livestock.
Be a competent motor bike rider and a good communicator.
Basic trade skills are an advantage.
Experience operating trucks, tractors, bob cats and loaders would be advantageous.
Ability to ride horses is not essential but could be an advantage.

Although remote, the station encourages social get together’s and engagement with the local community, there are bush race meetings, camp drafts and bronco branding. The properties and the landscape are vast offering opportunities for exploring, fishing, swimming, and bushwalking with Dalhousie Springs, Old Ghan Railway, and telegraph station history around the area.

The successful applicants will be offered a supportive family environment who encourage learning, above award wages, modern single room accommodation and all meals. There is a large common room with TV and WIFI, there is limited phone service with access to landline.
