Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated Clinical Support Officer with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful applicant will be expected to be able to provide timely and accurate administrative/transactional services for members of the health care team on designated ward(s)/unit(s) under the direction of a Unit Manager.

Greet patients as first point of contact
Collect accurate health care information
Maintain accurate documentation
Communicate effectively with patients, clients and other health care team members
Willingness to work with marginalised clients with challenging behaviours is required
Support the Manager with daily service activities
Assist with payroll and ordering

The CSO will provide administrative support for the daily and ongoing operational demands of Outpatient Services with the Alcohol and Drug Service. They will work alongside the Manager to assist with HR functions/administration, payroll and office management. They will contribute to collecting accurate health care information, maintaining accurate documentation and communicate effectively with patients, clients and other health care team members in accordance with the Networks Values and expectations. The CSO is the first point of contact with the service and is a front line position. The position is located within the alcohol & drug clinic at St. Vincent’s Hospital, and a good understanding and willingness to work with marginalised clients with challenging behaviours is required.

4. Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and by phone).

6. Experience in working in a health care setting, including knowledge of patient administration systems and the ability to be compassionate and demonstrated sensitive approach if/when dealing with patients and carers, including a commitment to maintain confidentiality at all times.

7. Demonstrated ability to be compassionate and display a sensitive approach when dealing with patients and carers, who may display challenging behaviours.

8. Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development
