The Opportunity

Welfare Recruitment Solutions has been approached by a best practice industry leader to assist recruiting Dementia Care Specialists who can provide assessment and behavioural management services for persons living with dementia and their families.

The Role

You will be responsible for providing dementia behavioural consulting that involves assessing and case managing any concerning behaviours through referrals. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a dementia advocate by looking and responding to their needs holistically considering physical well-being, psycho-social and environmental factors at play and identifying triggers and unmet needs. In line with best practice dementia care you understand that behaviours are an important means of communication and the goal is to effectively respond to these needs and successfully recommend strategies so that the highest possible quality of life can be achieved. This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity where you will also work with other talented dementia specialists and educators learning and expanding your knowledge and experience further.

The Candidate

To be considered you will need to demonstrate:

Strong understanding of different dementia diagnoses, BPSD behaviours along with the ability to understand and identify triggers and unmet needs.
Experience conducting aged care cognitive assessments in residential, acute/sub-acute, community provider or government health service.
Alternatively, you may have worked in a therapeutic role as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist in aged care where you have worked extensively with persons with dementia.
Additional qualifications either studying towards or completed a Diploma or Bachelor of Dementia Care, Post Grad Certificate or Masters of Gerontology will be very highly regarded

Ideally we are looking for Newcastle and surrounding area based applicants but as there is flexible working from home arrangement on offer this could appeal if you are living further away.

0.8FTE will be considered on application and NFP tax-free salary packaging of $15,900 p.a. is on offer along with phone, laptop, car allowance.
