About the opportunity

Primary Health Tasmania has an exciting opportunity in our Health Service Design team for an experienced program / project manager as a Lead – Health Service Design – Mental Health to lead the design of contemporary mental health services and service improvement initiatives for Primary Health Tasmania, that effectively contribute to improved health outcomes for Tasmanians.  

This role is based  in Tasmania, Hobart or Ulverstone, each in its own unique location to enjoy mountains, wilderness and beaches. What would you be doing…

You will bring your leadership and mental health sector expertise to ensure the ongoing project development, management, and implementation of the Early Psychosis Youth Service (EPYS) and the new headspace Centre in Hobart. 

This role will also provide technical advice and leadership to other similar or related primary health projects over time, working closely with the Health Program Lead (responsible for end-to-end project management) and the Manager - Service Design. 

You will apply evidence-based knowledge and understanding of the national and Tasmanian health systems, the national and state mental and other health reform agendas, community health and service needs, service delivery, clinician challenges, and clinical pathways in designing commissioning activities.

Here's what you’ll look like… 

  • You’ll have a relevant tertiary qualification and experience in managing complex social and/or health-related projects 
  • You’ll have project management skills with the ability to lead, demonstrate and apply project management tools and methodologies.
  • You’ll have an understanding of the mental health sector and system reforms
  • You’ll ideally have a strong influencing capability and examples of collaborating across and between organisations building strong links and knowledge to ensure project success.
  • You’re adaptable, flexible and able to think creatively with experience in change management.
  • You’ll work collaboratively and consultatively as part of a team 
  • You’ll be a culture champion – understanding that every day, you play an important part of what makes Primary Health Tasmania a great place to work
