CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)


This course is designed for people working as or aspiring to become builders, site managers, foremen, construction managers and other building practitioners involved with the management of small-to-medium-sized low rise building businesses. This course together with your hands on industry experience will assist you in meeting the requirements of the Victorian Building Authority to become a registered building practitioner in Victoria.



This program covers the skills and knowledge needed by professional builders in the building industry. You will learn to run a small to medium construction business and take overall responsibility for completing the construction of a residential building. You will also learn the skills required to understand the processes involved in selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and successfully liaise with clients.

Preparing the Application for Registration is a very complicated and thorough process, requiring substantial attention to detail. The Victorian Building Authority requires builder’s registration applicants to have the skills, knowledge and experience to apply for registration as a building practitioner.  This involves filling in a lot of documents that require a lot of attention to detail.  At BAA, our Certificate IV Building and Construction (Building) course includes the BAA builder registration mentoring program.

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA)

If you have a trade qualification in building and construction or 3 years' experience working in the industry, you can study this course in a stream with other students with similar experience.

Virtual Classroom Online or On campus: 2 nights per week, 29-36 weeks. 

Saturday classes available in some locations.

Our Virtual Classroom is an interactive alternative to traditional online classes.  You will  be able to attend from the comfort of your own home while maintaining all the benefits that come with direct communication and interaction between yourself, your trainer and your fellow classmates.

Students login to a virtual classroom environment at set class times from their homes or offices or any other location where they can access the internet via their laptop or PC with a microphone and camera. Trainers deliver each session live with students interacting in real time with other students and the Trainer.  Each session is recorded with students able to go back in at a later date and re-watch sections of interest.
