INTRODUCTION

Stonnington City Council is the local government body responsible for the municipality of Stonnington. The City of Stonnington is located in Melbourne's inner east. The council provides a diverse range of services to the city that consists of more than 90,000 residents and 42,000 workers.

HISTORY / BACKGROUND

1994 - The City of Stonnington was formed following the amalgamation of the former Cities of Malvern and Prahran.

2002 - The City of Stonnington's Prahran Aquatic Centre was officially opened.

2003 - The Malvern Glen Iris Community Centre was closed.

2005 - The City of Stonnington bought 290 Glenferrie Road, Malvern to provide optimum service delivery from and around the Malvern Town Hall site.

2007 - Work on the construction of the City of Stonnington's new municipal depot at the existing Tooronga Road Malvern depot site commenced.
