Online career magazine: helping you get ahead

Ask Kate Column: This week I want to pass on some info on finding award wage rates and also plug our new online career magazine.

To find award wage rates, go to www.workplaceauthority.gov.au and click on the purple box on the home page titled Pay Scale Summaries.  Scroll down and click on the 2008 list and then use the A-Z choices.

Please note that it is the award not the role you need to search so surf around a bit if you don’t know what award you fall under. It isn’t hard; it just takes a bit of trial and error. Any questions for the Fair Pay Commission, call the Workplace Info line on 1300 363 264.

Also, I want to plug our updated online editorial section inspired by CareerOne readers. If you go to the CareerOne website you will find a new News & Views tab right at the top of the homepage. Click on that to reach the main landing page of our extensive online career magazine.

There are 26 sections so hopefully something for everyone. As well as separate sections on Job Hunting Advice, Resumes, Cover Letters, Interviews and Employment News there are specialist areas such as Salary Centre, Women at Work, School Students & Leavers, Graduates, Mature Age Workers, Managing Staff, Career Development and Trades & Skills.

The online editorial team is always creating new content but we also post stories from all over the News Ltd group including the fabulous CareerOne section of The Courier-Mail that you are reading right now.
