Optimise your ad

Use these advertiser tips to get the most out of your CareerOne advertising campaign.

The CareerOne search engine lists job search results from the most relevant to the least relevant.

Job title
Keep job titles specific to the role and think about what words job seekers will use when searching for jobs. For example use Receptionist not Reception/Admin.

If you have an ambiguous job title, for example "Account Manager", you need to ask yourself," Is the role a sales role or is it a customer service role?" You need to spell that out if you expect the search engine to return your job to the right candidate. For example, "Sales - Account Manager".

Keywords in the job title are weighted heaviest.

Keywords
Use the words in the body of the advertisement that reinforce the core skills required for the role.

Infrequently used words
The CareerOne search engine recognises infrequently used words and attaches greater importance to those words. For example, if you type 'sales manager nanotechnology' the search engine will attach greater importance to the word 'nanotechnology' than to the word 'sales'. It is important for you to include the differentiating aspects of your role in the job posting.
