National Competition 2008
The winners of the WorldSkills Australia National Competition 2008 have finally been announced. The CareerOne Award for Best Performing Competitor went to Luke Davies from Meadowbank TAFE in Sydney's West who won a gold medal in the turning category and had the highest score across the competition. Highlights
Over the three-day event enough bricks to build two standard houses were laid; 60 dozen eggs were cracked; 400 kg of flour were mixed, and eight tons of steel, worked. Among the gold medalists were: Joshua Fimognari from Enmore TAFE in Sydney's West, who came top in the jewellery category, Carlee Bamford from Bentley TAFE, Western Australian, for retail baking - pastry; and carpentry apprentice Daniel Moelder from Burnie TAFE Tasmania.
