"AS" interviewed for a job and was later told she was not successful by letter. "I rang and asked for feedback and was told the job went to someone more qualified. I have 15 years experience as a medical audio typist. Now I notice the job has been readvertised. Should I ring and ask to reapply?"
Points to you "AS" that you called and asked for feedback. The employer might well have hired someone who just had that little extra thing - a medical qualification or background - and now that candidate has taken a better offer elsewhere. Or the line that someone had more experience could have been just that - a line fed to you to spare your feelings.
The fact you got the interview shows you have sufficient experience. Maybe interviews are not your strong suit - something that can be rectified. So where does this leave you?
Well, first you need to ask yourself if you really liked the employer and felt you would be happy in the job. I imagine with so much of this type of work going overseas, that these roles do not grow on trees but before you put in the effort, make sure you have thought this through.
It cannot physically hurt to follow up by phone but prepare yourself for another non-answer. See if you can talk to the same person as last time.
Ask if the organisation would be re-considering your application or would they like you to reapply for the role? At least you have then done all you can to secure the role.
